Garland hits and pitches the Bixby Spartans JV to 3-2 victory

The Bixby Spartans JV beat Broken Arrow 3-2 Friday behind both the bat and the arm of Cole Garland.

Garland racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Bixby Spartans JV. He hit a stand-up triple in the fifth inning and a well-placed sacrifice bunt by Blake Kirk brought him in as the go-ahead run home, ending the game.

Logan Pylate did an excellent job behind the plate for the Spartans, gunning down 3 runners in the game.

Broken Arrow couldn't get anything going so long as Cole Garland was on the hill. Broken Arrow managed just one hit off of Garland, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.

Broken Arrow jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. They added more runs when Whitworth scored on a sacrifice fly by Blake Biggs.  A late-game rally by the Spartans, however, was more than the Tigers could handle.
